Ciphers: Don't Think About It . . .

Isabella Ding
In her documentary film, Ms. Ding explores perceptions of Asian beauty, comparing not only differences in style and fashion in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cultures, but also the adaptation of western standards by the daughters of Asian immigrants to the United States. Ms. Ding's film grew out of previous research projects on the cross cultural aesthetics written during her sophomore, junior, and senior years at York Preparatory School. Ms Ding successfully defended her project on XXXXXX.
The Otherness of Beauty's Conformity
Drawing on his interest in the art and history of comic books, Mr. Jablonski conducted a comparative analysis of Wonder Woman and Captain America, two superheroes who emerged when the United States enter the Second World War. While both characters defended the United States against Axis aggression, the gender of each character shaped how they went about doing so. Mr. Jablonski successfully defended his project on XXXXX.
Victoria Laboz
Ms. Laboz's project, a fusion of public art, creative writing, and sociology, was the result of numerous hours spent in Washington Square Park and other Manhattan venues, where, with a card table and hand-printed sign, she asked passersby to write a letter to a stranger. In a daisy chain of personal confessions and public support, she captured the emotions hidden behind the faces in the metropolitan crowd. Ms. Laboz successfully defended her project on XXXXXX.
Dear Stranger: An Open Letter to New York City
Stress is a common feature among American high-school students and learning how to cope with it is an essential skill for academic success. To evaluate how well York Preparatory School students deal with the trials of stress, Matt Chatzinoff and Max Nusbaum identified two methods of easing tension and evaluated their effectiveness.
