Growing up

A Small Town Boy
Herbert Osborne Yardley was born in Worthington, Ohio, the son of a railway telegrapher. In high school, he was the “it” boy. With a talent for doing everything right, he was popular, outgoing, intelligent, and an amusing talker. With these ideal qualities, it was no surprise he was the president of his high school class, editor of the school paper, and captain of the football team.

A Hero's Journey
In 1912, twenty-three year old Herbert O. Yardley got aboard a train that led him to the start of his journey, in Washington D.C.
